Gesture-Modulated Video-Feedback paintings are an ongoing body of work made from custom software and work techniques developed specifically for this project. Art historically the project continues from Wassily Kandinsky’s formal theories relating abstract painting to music. For Kandinsky, visual elements are likened to musical elements of orchestration. GMVF paintings utilize basic tools from electronic music production and synthesis in combination with video feedback techniques and tradition human gesture to activate a reinvention of the paintbrush, one that exists in the virtual space of software.
